Another great new character, “Non Commital” the weatherman! I need a Non Commital T-Shirt.

  2. Buzz, no one disagrees on what “semi-automatic” means. It’s in the dictionary.

    http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/semi-automatic?s=t

    sem·i·au·to·mat·ic [sem-ee-aw-tuh-mat-ik, sem-ahy-]
    adjective
    1. partly automatic.
    2. (of a firearm) automatically ejecting the cartridge case of a fired shot and loading the next cartridge from the magazine but requiring a squeeze of the trigger to fire each individual shot.

    noun
    3. a self-loading rifle or other firearm.

    • This will be deleted for sure.

    • Dear Jeebus, not another anti-gun-oriented show. For crying out loud, people, nobody is going to change anyone else’s mind, either way. NO-BOD-EEE.

      • I agree completely with this. The same position has been expressed 10 times this month. That’s hours of rant. No one even disagrees with Mike, why is it always such a vitrolic argument.

We have bug out bags in our house. One for each family member. The title is a fairly recent one, but we’ve had them since the 90′s…It’s called being prepared. It’s REQUIRED down here in NOLA where we get Hurricanes. Glad we had them in 2005, just sayin. “These People” keep painting with broad strokes fellas!

    Prepared, not paranoid.

The discussion was really harsh, not sure why having some supplies (and no, I don’t mean hording ammo and weapons) is a cause for ridicule. I’d rather be prepared for “something” than follow Mike and Buzz’s “The Government Will Fix It” mentality.

  5. FWIW, I have a “bug-out bag.” It’s not for surviving the end of the world; it’s for short-term things that do happen: car trouble, snowstorms, hurricanes. Basically, getting stranded somewhere, or losing power. It was in my car when DC had the rush hour snowstorm in 2009, and if I’d been one of the people stuck on I-270 for 12 hours I’d have been pretty glad to have it.

I mean, it’s cheap backpack with a flashlight, radio, emergency blanket, handwarmers, aspirin… stuff like that. If I never need any of it, that’s okay; it wasn’t exactly a huge investment. I know there are people preparing for actual apocalypse scenarios, but I don’t think emergency preparedness is fundamentally crazy.
